CPA Ninja Marketing – Bum Marketing Tactics

Everyone has heard about how much money there is to be made in the CPA arena – claims of $100k per day net by some of the super-affiliates and even more average level affiliates making $500+ a day – big money to be sure. But what most don’t tell you is that to make $500 a day they spent a lot more than that to get a $500 return in one day. Now I’d spend money on PPC all day long for a solid return, but still, how many people are going to be able to spend hundreds and even thousands a day or more in PPC starting out? Enter Bum Marketing tactics for CPA. Now let me be transparently clear on this subject, the single best and most profitable way to run CPA campaigns is via PPC and if you’re going that route I highly recommend you take a look at the CPA Ninja Review site for a formal and in depth review (4 part analysis – this is not a glossed over hyped up presentation) of CPA Ninja, a training product that can give you the edge in being successful at CPA marketing. It is not cheap, but it is far less than you could spend in just one day of mistakes in PPC and therefore is well worth the investment.

Bum Marketing involves tactics and strategies for free or nearly free marketing approaches to get started building up your reserves so that you can jump in the pond with the big fish. Bum Marketing is typically associated with Article Marketing and Forum posting, etc… In the context of CPA (cost per action), Bum Marketing we will not be discussing any forum related stuff, but instead focus on Article Marketing strategies than can work well with CPA.

There are two primary techniques and approaches for article marketing. The first approach involves using the articles for SEO purposes in conjunction with keyword laden anchor text to create large numbers of backlinks for a website where you host your offer. You use the articles and anchor text to get lots of backlinks that get your targeted keyword phrase ranked within the SERPs (search engine results pages). The second approach is to actually use the article itself to get traffic for the offer and to submit to a few high quality high PR websites.

In the first approach where you are building links for your site, you will want to have hundreds of articles published across thousands of websites. At first this may seem like a daunting chore, but if you do it correctly it is not that difficult at all. You can do this manually, but I recommend you don’t. It will simply take far too long and not be cost effective.

To understand how to accomplish this task most effectively, you need to understand a concept called content spinning. Content spinning is a way of generating multiple unique versions of a single article. This is highly effective for SEO because Google and other search engines prefer to see unique content – not a bunch of tired old PLR articles. In simple terms it might look something like this.
{sentence 1 version 1~sentence 1 version 2~sentence 1 version 3}

In this example there are three different versions of the same sentence that the software will randomly use to choose just one when generating the article. If you provide two versions of every sentence in your article, then the software can generate hundreds of unique versions of your article that will all read naturally and be well written. Both recommended programs below use this type of article spinning which is the only way I recommend doing it. I have tried many article spinners, and these are the only two that I personally recommend because they create quality results. Many of the spinners out there do automatic phrase substitution and synonym lookup tables and such – resulting in a lot of garbage text that reads just as if it was generated by a computer – hardly desirable.

Instead of manually writing hundreds of articles, you should look to use a service such as MyArticleNetwork to facilitate this approach. With MyArticleNetwork, you upload your article, create a spun version of it, and then choose the category to submit it to and click submit – that’s it! It will then be sent off to thousands of websites for publication (they have over 10,000 in their network). Another alternative to MyArticleNetwork is Unique Article Wizard. The Unique Article Wizard works off of the same principle but has a slightly different approach to content spinning. Instead of doing spinning at the sentence level, it does it at the paragraph level. Both approaches are very effective it just comes down to a personal preference. The main difference between the two programs is that MyArticleNetwork allows you to put three links anywhere into the text of the post and the Unique Article Wizard allows two links only in the resource box at the bottom of the article. The result is that your spun article will get pushed out to thousands of websites (that doesn’t mean they will all publish it) and generate tons of backlinks for your targeted anchor text. While both of these services have a monthly maintenance cost, they are indispensable in terms of the value they provide for a minimum cost.

The second approach to article marketing would involve manually submitting your article to a series of high profile and high PR (PageRank) websites, such as ezinearticles.com, gotoarticles.com and ehow.com. The benefit of this approach is that these are very high traffic sites that get a lot of attention and you will likely see quite a bit of traffic from them. They also can give your site some much needed PageRank boost.

Bum Marketing can be effective to get your CPA business launched and to begin to generate some reserves while you experiment with PPC based campaigns. Who knows, you may find that you make enough with the Bum approach to meet your objectives.

Getting Accepted to CPA Networks – Ninja Style

So, you’ve done your homework you bought the CPA Ninja School course and you’re ready to make the leap into CPA marketing, but now you realize that you will be “interviewed” to even get accepted by the various networks – how do you do it?

This can be a bit daunting at first for the average affiliate marketer, because we are all “rebels” by our very nature. We don’t have day jobs, we don’t have bosses and we certainly don’t want to have to “apply” to a network or be “interviewed” for acceptance. Don’t worry, it’s not as hard as it seems, but there are some definite guidelines you want to follow.

First and foremost, you have to realize that these networks don’t want low quality, newbie marketers causing them a bunch of extra work. You need to position yourself professionally so that your aren’t viewed as a rookie – many of the big networks will not want to work with you as a rookie. So, how do you do it?

Here are a few basic guidelines. Make sure you have a real email address – don’t use a freebie service, have a business domain and create an email firstname@mydomain.com or something to that effect. Next, make sure that you have a professional message on your voicemail and it is much better to give a business phone number than a cell phone. Most of the sites that you apply to will require you to list a website as a “reference” of your work. So it is advised that you create a free blog site that gives free advice on affiliate marketing and put a few posts up there. Stuff relating to CPA marketing is even better. Make sure it looks professional and has ample content. It’s all about the impression you leave that you have “been around the affiliate marketing block” before. The next thing you will definitely want to do is make sure you have a business messenger account – best to have them in the big three systems, AIM, Yahoo and Skype, just to cover your basis. Make sure you use a business type name – not your personal name or catchy social media name.

Now, here’s the biggest tip of all that will skyrocket your acceptance rate. Once you send in your application, don’t just sit on your haunches, wait a day, and then call the affiliate manager directly. Take the initiative. Remember, you’re positioning yourself as a pro – a pro is not going to sick back with his fingers crossed and “hope” they call. So, pick up the phone, take the initiative and be confident. Don’t lie, but don’t tell them you’re a rookie either. Keep your answers short and sweet and tell them the truth that you’ve done a lot of internet marketing and affiliate marketing and are now expanding into CPA as well. Remember, you’re not going to get accepted into all of the networks you apply to – but that’s okay. There are lots of them out there, just choose a bunch of them and keep applying, you will get in to several of them and if you follow the advice above you’ll get accepted to about twice as many as if you don’t. So next I moved on to Module 2 of CPA Ninja School which is called Take Action.

The fourth video in CPA Ninja School was awesome, it was done by Matt and it was all about how to drive traffic. Now one thing that I clued in on is that Matt and Marty apparently have different methods of driving traffic to their CPA offers – to each his own right?

At first this kind of struck as me as a disconnect between the two, but in hindsight I now see it as a good thing, I got to see two different approaches for driving traffic to the offers from two people that have been highly successful at it.

From what I understand they were each working on their own separate CPA courses and decided to just combine efforts into one monster course – so basically we get two CPA courses for the price of one. You cant beat that for the price, especially when I previously paid more than twice as much for another course!

The fifth and 6th videos in CPA Ninja School are Marty going through the process of picking a CPA offer live on screen all the way to creating the websites, blogs, and even picking a domain in godaddy – I mean he shows you the entire process soup to nuts live on screen, that’s awesome. Remember when I said I have been using WPD since September and had already invested in a much more expensive and highly publicized CPA course? Yeah, so these 2 last videos were a bit too basic for my own personal liking, but very very good for a newbie and was a good refresher on a couple of things for me anyway. Anyone that is NOT using WPD but plans on using it for CPA these video’s will be a god send, you basically learn CPA Marketing and some WPD stuff at the same time.

CPA Marketing Like a Ninja – Want To Learn More?

For several years now there has been this industry secret for the “big players”. It wasn’t so much that it was a secret, but they were bringing in so much money that they really didn’t want it leaking out that while everyone else in Internet Marketing was playing around with Clickbank they were making 10x that much or more in CPA.

For those that don’t know, CPA is “Cost Per Action”. CPA is pretty straight forward; you get paid for the “actions” that your users take. As an example, let’s say a cosmetic company wants to gauge the feedback to a new product line that they are thinking of introducing. They pay for each lead that you acquire for them, generally about $1.50 for a simple zip code and email lead – very straightforward. The only responsibility you have is to drive traffic to their lead capture page at your own expense. This is a fairly standard promotion type. There are other more complicated and higher paying offers that may require a credit card for a free trial plus shipping and handling, or a multi-page registration form for insurance, for example.

So, in essence, as a CPA marketer you are really a traffic broker. You buy traffic on one end, send it to an offer page and get paid based on how well it converts. Sounds so simple, doesn’t it? Sometimes it is, but usually it’s not quite that easy. It is extremely competitive and there are many people out there that are just huge – making $100k a day and more – hard to compete with those guys. While those huge numbers are impressive, what is more impressive is that many, many more people are making $500 to $1000 a day in CPA campaigns. In the beginning you’ve got a lot of hurdles to overcome dealing with all that competition as well as the learning curve. The profits may seem high, but the costs are as well – don’t be surprised to spend $1000 to net $300. Sounds okay, right – spend $1000 and make back $1300 to net $300. Sure, you’d do it all day long if you could. But cash management and cash flow can become a big problem at first. For example, how much cash do you have at hand and for how long can you float it? Google charges you daily so you’ll be paying $1000 a day, but that $300 net (or $1300 gross) won’t be coming for perhaps 30 and sometimes even 60 days out. Those numbers may seem farfetched, but they are actually on the low end of the super-affiliate scale. So, it becomes a process that you “grow” into at a pace that you can afford.

Furthermore, they may have had to lose money on that campaign for a week or two before getting it profitable and refined enough to make that $300 a day. CPA marketing can be very lucrative, but it is also not for the faint of heart. If you’re going to take this seriously, then you need to seriously commit to a training program such as CPA Ninja School that can teach you the ins and outs and save you the learning curve – that learning curve can be several times the cost of a good training course. The wise choice is to invest upfront in good training so that you don’t make costly mistakes along the way. It may take you a while to get to $500 a day profits, but the effort will well be worth it.

Choosing CPA Offers Like A Ninja – CPA Ninja Style

Your success with CPA will have a lot to do with your ability to quickly and effectively select offers that have a good chance of making money. In time and with experience, you will begin to develop and eye for them, but keep in mind it will always be an experimentation process. You will be able to quickly determine which ones don’t have a good chance to succeed and which ones do – but whether or not they actually pan out will still be a trial and error. The point is to begin to get better at improving your odds.

In the beginning of every campaign, you are likely to lose money for a little bit until you are able to refine your PPC campaigns and tailor the results of your conversions and sales pages. Also, as your CTR and quality score remain strong you will be able to gradually lower your bid amounts in Google and still retain your position. Meaning, you will start to turn a losing campaign into a profitable one because you’re spending less to get those customers to convert.

Here are some of the general rules of thumb for selecting campaigns that can help you reduce some of your initial startup costs and get profitable quicker:

Free Offers – Everyone likes getting free gifts, trials and subscriptions – free is good. So focus more on these types of offers as they are easier to convert. Many of the objections are already handled in the free nature of the offer and that makes conversions and profits soar.
Zip and Email Submits – The very simple offers that require only a zip code or email in order for you to get paid (typically paying you from $1 to $1.50 for each generated lead) are some of the easiest offers to get to convert. Everyone nowadays has multiple email address (and one that they generally use for just this type of thing) and very few people are scared away by simply requesting their zip code and email address. The only real challenge with this type of offer is getting cheap enough traffic to make it worthwhile.
5 Second Test – Simply put, when you just glance at the offer page, does it draw you in? Is there a clear call to action that is very easy to find? Is the page design clean and concise? Or cluttered and confusing? Is the optin box above the fold? Is it prominently featured? Or tucked away? All of these factors can greatly impact the conversion rates of the offer, so examine them closely.

CPA Marketing is all about finding offers that convert and then ramping up the traffic to them. Keep in mind that while you can improve your odds by learning good techniques to evaluate offers and choosing offer types that are easier to convert, you still will likely have only about 1 in 5 offers or so that is a “winner”. And keep in mind, that you may lose money for several days even on that winner as well before you are able to refine it down enough to become profitable. Therefore, if you’re going to lose money on 80% of the offers to test out, it is important that when you find a winner you ramp up the traffic to it as much as you can and make everything you can from it.
